
John Bowman, from Georgetown, Kentucky, is a remarkable individual with a profound journey of personal transformation. Having overcome 24 years of substance use from the age of 13 to the age of 37, he marked a significant turning point on October 12, 2018, when he embraced a life of sobriety. This milestone led him to a path of dedicated service in recovery and criminal justice reform.
John commenced his journey in recovery with a year-long commitment to Addiction Recovery Care, where he not only conquered his substance use but also extended his hand as a Peer Support Specialist. For over three years, his unwavering dedication saw him rise to the role of Program Manager within the organization. Following his tenure at Addiction Recovery Care, John transitioned to Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, where he worked closely with at-risk youth, offering guidance and support.
Presently, John is the Kentucky Senior Campaign Organizer for Dream.Org, a nationally renowned nonprofit organization that champions the cause of criminal justice reform. His role involves reshaping drug policies in Kentucky, and he does so by actively engaging with directly impacted individuals, harm reduction specialists, law enforcement agencies, the business community, and the faith community.
